A native of Venezuela, Maria Rincon Hernandez has been acclaimed to be “the promise of the piano.” 3⁄4 (Diario “La Verdad”) Maria Laura started her musical studies at the age of 8 through “El Sistema” at the Santa Rosa de Agua Center in Maracaibo, Venezuela. In 2006, , Maria focused solely on piano 3⁄4 as well as perfecting her proficiency in English and French 3⁄4 and did an extensive auditioning tour throughout the U.S. in looks of a scholarship to attend an American university. Maria Laura was awarded a full scholarship to attend the University of South Carolina School of Music and study under internationally acclaimed pianist Marina Lomazov.
Maria Laura was also awarded the Mini McGillan Award to attend Perugia Music Festival and perform Chopin Piano, Concerto No. 2 at the famous Sala dei Notari in Perugia, Italy. Notable piano pedagogue and instructor Sarah Ernst (US) nominated Maria Laura to participate at the MTNA 2016 National Conference in Baltimore, MD. Maria Laura presented at the Music Teachers National Association 2016 edition on “Musicáre: Sharing the Joy and Benefits of Music with the Senior Living Communities of Columbia, SC.” as part of the University of South Carolina Collegiate Chapter. During 2016 Maria Laura was also hired at the Center for Piano Studies at the University of South Carolina, where she taught private and group piano lessons. Maria Laura gave her graduation recital at the School of Music Recital Hall, earning her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance. Being awarded a full scholarship to Southern Methodist University, pursue her master’s in music with an emphasis in Piano Performance and Pedagogy under the instruction of Carol Leone (US, Italy.)
In 2018 Maria Laura was hired by the internationally known Kawai School of Music to run a private piano studio at the Kawai Piano Gallery in Plano, TX., Maria Laura also taught at the SMU Preparatory Piano Department, including private and group piano lessons, as well as undergraduate music courses at Southern Methodist University. In 2019 Maria Laura performed at the Shigeru Hall at the Kawai Piano Gallery, as part of the Faculty Series Concerts. The same year Maria Laura attended the Texas State International Piano Festival in San Marcos, TX, also performing at the Texas Sate Alumni Recital. In 2020, Maria Laura performed her graduate recital at O’Donnell Hall at Southern Methodist University, earning her Master of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy. Maria Laura moved to Boulder, CO and was hired by the Parlando School for the Arts at the Dairy Arts Center as a piano instructor and the Boulder Piano Gallery as a piano specialist and salesperson. Last August, Maria Laura attended the Kawai Academy in San Pedro. CA, earning a certificate of achievement in broadening even further her knowledge of piano engineering, marketing strategies, and sales of Kawai, one of the leading piano brands in the world.
